This course is designed for participants to gain the necessary skills to plan, prepare and complete Dogging work as prescribed by the National Standard for Licensing Persons Performing High Risk Work. On completion of this course, participants will be able to determine the SWL of gear and materials; select, maintain and inspect fibre ropes, chains, steel and wire ropes; perform splicing techniques and demonstrate a number of bends and hitches; sling, move and place loads; directing cranes.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
- Duty of care requirements, relevant sections of the OHS Regulations and Australian Standards
- Recognise different types of cranes, how they operate, correct setting up of most cranes, and descriptions
- Plan jobs safely
- Inspect and safely use, chains, soft slings, FSWR
- Understand Safe Working Loads
- Correctly sling loads. Selection and care of slings
- Calculate areas and weights of loads
- Recognise and use load handling accessories
- Splice and whip fibre ropes
- Understand requirements and use of PPE
- Understand correct stacking and unloading
Upon successful completion of this course, student will be awarded a Statement of Attainment and the High Risk Work License* to Dogging by WorkSafe WA.
(* STES will only submit student’s WorkSafe application and issue SOA after full payment is received)
TRAINING DETAILS:
Start Time: 8:00 am (Please arrive 15 minutes earlier for registration and ID checked)
Entry Requirement: At least 18 years of age and has basic level of English proficiency (written and communication)
Delivery: Face to Face training and assessment in a simulated workplace environment
Payment Mode: Cash, credit card, purchase order
What to bring: 1 Photo ID and 1 Secondary ID, Current WorkSafe Licence Card (if any)
(e.g. Driver’s Licence, Passport (current or expired no more than 2 years), WA proof of age card or other Australian Government issued ID card with photo) AND (e.g. Medicare Card, current credit card or ATM card, telephone, gas, electricity account not more than 12 months old);
Clothing: Long sleeve shirt, long pants and safety boots
