This course is designed for participants to gain the necessary skills to plan, prepare & complete basic rigging work as prescribed by the National Standard for Licensing Persons Performing High Risk Work. On completion of this course, participants will be able to prepare rigging equipment; erect structural steel; use a safety harness; outline responsibilities and work safely at heights.

Note: 

Pre-Requisite unit: CPCCLDG3001 Licence to Perform Dogging

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

  • Duty of care requirements, relevant sections of the OHS Regulations and Australian Standards
  • Safely plan and conduct basic rigging duties
  • Have a full understanding of most common types of FSWR and their particular applications
  • Set up winches, sheaves and purchases for FSWR and fibre rope
  • Identify and correctly operate:
    • Rigging appliances (spreader bars, chain blocks, and cum-a-longs)
    • Anchorages and fittings
    • Steel erection
    • Cantilevered crane-loading platforms
    • Erection of material hoists
    • Industrial safety nets
    • Safety nets and static lines
  • Be proficient in:
    • Handling pre-cast concrete. (Not tilt up panels)
    • Plan reading
    • Use of PPE

Upon successful completion of this course, student will be awarded a Statement of Attainment and the High Risk Work License* to Perform Rigging Basic Level by WorkSafe WA.
(* STES will only submit student’s WorkSafe application and issue SOA after full payment is received)

TRAINING DETAILS:

Start Time: 8:00 am (Please arrive 15 minutes earlier for registration and ID checked)
Entry Requirement: At least 18 years of age, has basic level of English proficiency (written and communication) and current DG HRWL
Delivery: Face to Face training and assessment in a simulated workplace environment
Payment Mode: Cash, credit card, purchase order
What to bring: 1 Photo ID and 1 Secondary ID, Current WorkSafe Licence Card 
(e.g. Driver’s Licence, Passport (current or expired no more than 2 years), WA proof of age card or other Australian Government issued ID card with photo) AND (e.g. Medicare Card, current credit card or ATM card, telephone, gas, electricity account not more than 12 months old);
Clothing: Long sleeve shirt, long pants and safety boots

Parking: Limited free parking on site
